Has everyone watched too many Terminator movies?
AI is not going to create Skynet. So why is the news media so willing to promote the fear of the extermination of humanity? This is stupid.
Is it because they are afraid some people might create an AI program that threatens the elites? Because all of this talk about regulation will not apply to the AI DARPA is working on. So the elites are not afraid of their AI. They are afraid of the AI they do not control.
For example. Someone that hates the corruption of Bill Gates might create a Kill Bill AI program. Or maybe sonhouse will make a Kill Trump AI program. Or maybe they just want to pop the AI bubble because the stock market is over valued and they sold all their stock.
I have noticed that democrats are more against AI than republicans are and the mid term elections are coming up. I have seen campaign ads bringing up data centers.
@Metal-Brain
We have the problem, that in a world that relies so heavily on computers and computer networks, a wild Ai would be a BIG problem.
If the recent scaring comments are exaggerated can only be seen in retrospect.
@Ponderable saidThe solution is to not connect vital things like water supply and voting machines to the internet. That is a human problem, not an AI problem.

AI is not a threat to humanity. Humanity is a threat to humanity.
@Metal-Brain saidThat's a nonsense argument. It always ultimately comes down to a human problem. The humans are creating the AI. They need to stop doing it.

AI is not a threat to humanity. Humanity is a threat to humanity.
@wildgrass saidYou must not be reading my posts on the other threads. AI is out of the bag. You cannot put the crap back in the horse. AI = Power

DARPA surely is creating AI without any outside regulation because AI is a great military advantage. How are you going to stop them? They will not even discuss it.
You make about as much sense as Ted Kaczynski. You are not even asking how AI would be a threat to humanity. Can you explain it to me? And don't tell me AI is going to create robots to kill us all. I might hurt myself laughing.

The proof for your algebraic problem is:
AI=crap

You cannot stop AI. If you seriously think that is possible expect me to mock you by calling you Ted Kaczynski over and over again until you realize how stupid it is to expect people to stop developing AI.
And why is AI a threat to humanity? This reminds me of the Y2K hype. Real life is not like Terminator movies. Chill out. Most of the stuff that AI did that scares you can be done with a computer virus without AI. Think about it. How many people create computer viruses with good intentions? They should stop it, but they don't.
@Metal-Brain saidYeah of course it's not new. Just like Einstein who described the development of nuclear weapons as a quantitative problem. Warfare is the same just a lot more destructive.

@wildgrass saidYou do realize now that banning AI is impossible because it is such a powerful tool that can enable world domination for the nation that leads in that technology. Right?
Yeah of course it's not new. Just like Einstein who described the development of nuclear weapons as a quantitative problem. Warfare is the same just a lot more destructive.
Move on to talking about regulating what is here to stay whether you like it or not. Not that you can regulate DARPA. They would laugh in your face and ignore you.
@wildgrass
I created a thread about this alleged threat to humanity long ago and nobody seemed very concerned. This is not a new warning at all. The only reason you are concerned now is because the news media is reporting it a lot now.

I even posted a website about how AI was blackmailing people to survive. Notice how Suzianne reacted. If she ever shows any fear of AI at all she will never hear the end of it from me. LOL
@wildgrass saidMeanwhile, every one of MB's arguments is a qualitative problem. Every one of his arguments is crap. He argues the exact wrong thing every time.
Yeah of course it's not new. Just like Einstein who described the development of nuclear weapons as a quantitative problem. Warfare is the same just a lot more destructive.
@Metal-Brain saidNonsense. We can and should ban specific types of AI activity that harm humans. Our current legal system is not prepared for the reality in which AI's are producing their own agentic AI entities which go on to commit crimes. Who is held responsible?

Ban it until we have a clear picture of what's at stake, how to enforce illegal activities, and ensure that effective safeguards are in place when the swarms fly the coop.
@wildgrass saidBut none of them has harmed humans. You are not afraid of what AI has done. You are afraid of what an unrealistic science fiction movie idea might do. AI can only harm people if it is programmed to.

You are afraid of people programming AI with a self preservation priority. Do you know who did that? The biggest AI companies. So they are the threat to humanity.
