The United States and China have not offered to go far enough to combat climate change, a top European Union official said as a major international summit on the subject opened Monday.

Final negotiations at the conference "will be mostly about what will be delivered from the United States and from China," said Andreas Carlgren, the environment minister of Sweden, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union.

I looked through the link but I couldn't find the part where the EU claims exemption for itself. Can you highlight it for me please? Or were you just being either disingenuous or paranoid with the OP title?
Did you not, in a recent thread, criticise China for not offering anything to alleviate global warming? Yet when someone else says the same thing then you criticise them. So what is your standpoint? Should China be helping out or not?
Ah, I see where your problem is now, there was also some criticism levelled at the US and, as we all know, the US should be above any criticism whatsoever. Especially when it comes from those pinko Euros, eh?

Except for us? The EU already has fixed emissions targets and the largest emissions trading scheme in the world. What the EU is saying is that it can be only them but everybody has to get on board.
