The dice have been rolled, the West’s pumped billions onto the gambling table and now we just have to sit back and wait for Putin’s responses.

Saner people than Putin will make sure there is not a nuclear exchange with the West. He’s going to fall down stairs before it comes to launching nukes.

Are you claiming Putin is incapable of launching a nuke or multiple nukes?
The US government has already stated that if Russia uses even one tactical nuke in Ukraine it will essentially become WW3 because the USA will get into in a direct war with Russia.
Unless NATO is not obligated to get involved. After all, it will be a choice for the USA to go to war with Russia. Russia is at war with Ukraine. Unless the west wants to admit they are at war with Russia too why would they have the right? They cannot say a NATO country was attacked. Ukraine is not in NATO. Is that why Ukraine asked for fast track NATO membership recently? So NATO can go to war with Russia directly?

Putin out of Ukraine, something may be negotiable regarding Crimea. And Ukraine has full autonomy regarding its foreign policy, defence and trading arrangements.
Oh and a ‘Ukraine Tax’ on future Russian carbon exports to EU / Europe to help rebuild Ukraine.

It doesn’t matter how much gas Germany gets or wether it stands or crumbles. This has gone way beyond sanctions and energy supplies. Do you think the US, UK and a dozen other countries are going to stop arming Ukraine because Germany gets cold feet and worries about its BMW and Mercedes production lines.

That’s why I want the murdering Russian army back within its own borders for the long term and not just a respite while it retrains and rearms to renew its westward advance through Ukraine and beyond.
Russia is either a friendly competitor in Europe or it’s a sworn enemy and must be viewed as such. It’s proven time and time again it’s ready to use extreme disgusting violence to carve out a European empire, this time the knife stays at its throat until it evolves beyond a tsarist imperial entity.

No, I'm not saying Putin is not capable of ordering a nuclear first strike; however, I think saner people in Russia would refuse to launch a nuclear first strike even if Putin ordered it.
Nothing says America (or any other nuclear country, for that matter) cannot use nuclear weapons in retaliation for a Russian nuclear strike against a non-NATO country. It's an option, not an obligation, in the case of a non-NATO country under nuclear attack. That is precisely why I think saner people in Russia wouldn't risk a first strike against Ukraine. His underlings would sooner push Putin down stairs* than risk a nuclear exchange with several Western powers.
* That's a metaphor for arranging his removal from power by an apparently accidental death if he won't relinquish power voluntarily.
