'Happy' is quite a general term. I will say that they don'y know much about the outside world (taxes take away any traveling money,) for camparing to, so happy is as easy a word as any to say how one is).

But Marauder, here you go again. You throw 'anxiety disorder' into a discussion that is about Anti-Depressants, Marauder, anxiety disorder and depression are two ...[text shortened]... he USA. But, I was writing about Depression, in countries that are far away from the USA.
    Whew.

Im tied up at the moment. At about 530 central time I will send you a website. It will show a long list of countries with the most anti-depressant drugs used. The United States is not on the list. About five or six Nordic countries are on the list, way up there. You can be preparing your rebuttal! This will make your post irrelevant.

    Bad news, Joe:

The OECD have not included the United States in these reviews, but if added the country would have the highest or second-highest rate.[3]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_antidepressant_consumption

Norway is about in the middle of that list with 57.1 per thousand or 5.7% taking anti-depressants daily.

Joe: All of those countries are high on the list of taking anti-depressant drugs! We are too busy in the USA for that foolishness.

The United States was not included in the OECD analysis (we've added it to the chart below), but if it had been, it would knock Iceland out of the top spot: 11% of Americans over the age of 12 take an antidepressant.

Ouch indeed. Chalk one up for Marauder. You beat me, I should have found supporting evidence. Congratulations. But you still need to explain yourself about changing posts to suit you, you do that often. I write one thing, you answer about something else.
Now that is over, and you did some good digging on that, all I did was Wiki, I still stand by the curious Nordic world as being not exactly comfortable for hard working Americans. I feel that there is no limit what we can do (witness Bezos) but places like Nordic, sort of like adult Disney lands, truly make it impossible to operate to get rich as hell. That is what drives Americans. Zahlanzi said somewhere today something about measuring 'dik' sizes, ....well, there is some truth in that. We are competitive as hell in business, while Nords are competitive at Futbal. That is only a pastime for us, then we get on in to the office to make deals!
So, we can go over the differences,I listed several on some thread today, but hey, I'll take the united states of america, I feel more independent here. A hard word for libs. Ha, I may do a thread on words that liberals Never Use!!!!!!

Congratulations again, good research. I've often said No Links on the Debate Stage!!!

Actually, Norway has more billionaires per capita than the US does which is also true of Sweden. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_billionaires

    Keep swinging and missing, Joe.

(Shrug) This information isn't hard to find.

I don't pretend to be an "expert" in the field though comparative political and economic systems was a major component of my course load in college many years ago.

You are right , i dont know Norway, except that to live there would put me in a daze. Not my thing. And I dont want to raise my children to be dependent on The State!!! (tell me, am I sposed to capitalize The State, sort of the Marxist thing?) And do I have to take the govt handouts and entitlements and welfare, if I dont want to? I like my independence.

    I do know this, though.

Sounds like innovation would be killed. We would commit suicide if we couldn't work and create...usuallly stuff that finds its way to the Nordics. Who made that computer? Whose vaccine did you get? TRUMP'S?!!?!??!????

It is a welfare state...you cannot deny that. For Everyone, not just poor and losers.

New business startups are difficult esp when compared to the free-wheeling USA

High taxation, and did I mention welfare state?

School situation, I think it is govt indoctrination, how to be dependent

The STATE!! handles all the needs of its citizens. Pitiful. Any men over there!??
NO sense of responsibility, independence, motivation (ha!) or gratitude. Just gimme, gimme, gimme. pitiful

One has to put their faith in govt. Coming from the USA, that would be difficult.

There are no communist countries. Nobody started communism aside from the idea of Marxism.

People often call countries communist that are not communist. Communist countries do not really exist and never have. Countries that aspire to be communist and are working toward that goal are called socialist countries. Socialist countries do not exist either.

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism

Name one socialist country that exists today.
"Cuba chased out the foreign capitalists"

There you go. You finally gave the true reason why. It had nothing to do with political ideology. The capitalists got screwed out of ownership so they punished Castro and the Cuban people for expropriating property from the imperialists.

I'd think it was OK if I could be my own man, but supporting others, and being supported myself by government, just makes me feel a bit queasy...But you love that, do you? I feel like a fool for quoting wikileak, and you prob feel like half a man for hooking into a society of parasites and losers who are into being happy, and working 'just enough'. My being a fool for one post will wear off quickly enough, but a parasitic nature lasts for a lifetime. Sad stuff.
