Assad banned GMO food to preserve the health of human beings in Syria.

If Assad doesn't care about his people what is his motive for banning GMO foods?

Could be either plain ignorance or he's just trying to keep foreign corporations (who tend to hold patents on GMO's) away.

Straw man.

The issue is not whether Assad cares about his people. Any sane person who leads a country wants his people to be as happy and successful as possible if for no other reason than that they're more likely to support you if they are.

The issue with Assad is whether he's willing to kill as many of his own people as necessary to maintain his grasp on power. And on that question, the answer certain appears to be "yes."

That is an oversimplification.

Assad has to take into consideration who would fill the power vacuum and how the Syrian people would be treated under a new regime. If Assad is overthrown a puppet dictator might be put in place to serve the USA, UK and France.

Like Libya, the conflict in Syria is a Civil War. This is not the business of outsiders like the USA and Israel. If the USA broke out in a Civil War the same tragic casualties would take place and if foreigners supported anti-government forces in the USA there would be no difference.

Assad is fighting terrorists. You can call them rebels or anything else you want, but they are terrorists. If a militia of Americans were to fight our government with the goal of regime change and expropriation of the corporate news media, those Americans would no doubt be called terrorists by our government and killed without mercy.

Check out this link with an interview with Assad. Notice our corporate news media will not show us an Assad interview. That is propaganda by omission.

Genetically modified seeds are all owned by Monsanto, a huge, powerful multinational American based company. I'm guessing he did not want Monsanto in his country.

Assad has the support of most of his people.

That alone would be grounds for execution.

Yes, that makes sense. Dictators running a bloody civil war tend to be quite popular, and I bet you can get Syrians talking honestly about whether they like Assad easily.

Assad does not admit to being a dictator. Neither does any president of the USA for that matter. If you want to debate what countries are democracies or dictatorships you should start a different thread. I would participate in that.

Lincoln was running a bloody civil war and history is kind to him. Was he quite popular or was he unpopular for letting Grant mercilessly butcher southern folk while sipping liquor?

Like Libya, outsiders are getting involved. Arabs and Iranians mostly.
