@dood111said Speaking of being a phony, she loves to brag about being from the Bronx, but she wasn't living in some run down tenement, she was living in a private community called Parkchester, hardly the run down part of the Bronx she infers she grew up in. . Her father was an architect and when she was five they moved to Yorktown Heights, an small upscale community 45 miles from NYC, whe ...[text shortened]... he was know as Sandy Cortez. Then on to Boston University.
So she's hardly from "dem mean streets".
@no1maraudersaid I'm impressed that you can tell what the crime rate in NYC is going to be in the immediate future from your perch about 7,000 miles away.
There are almost 40,000 police in NYC and somehow they have to stumble alone with a mere $5 billion budget. If they can't do their job, maybe they should be replaced.
Excuse me No1, How far away from NYC are you?
Apparently you don't know the NYC police budget is $1 billion. Just approved last wednesday

Wrong.
This forum has become a fountain of ignorance, misinformation and overt racism.
And that is all well and fine, but certainly not the focus of my thread.
It matters not what the cause in crime in NYC is to put AOC's statement
under the microscope.
When murders in NYC surge, we may not know why but we sure know why NOT
and it is not due to people stealing bread to feed their hungry children.

She wasn't asked about murders specifically but crime in general. And contrary to your beliefs poverty and crime (as recorded in the US) are usually positively correlated.
And it was you who insinuated that the budget cuts caused the crime "spike" which, has we have seen, is impossible.

So you are defending her. You think she is right? Really???
The #1 crime is murder. That catches everyone's eye. How the hell did people
mugging and murdering end up doing this for bread? This is so disingenuous.
And it was you who insinuated that the budget cuts caused the crime "spike" which, has we have seen, is impossible.
It doesn't sound like *anything* I would say, I am all for budget cuts as opposed
to deficit spending. But I really do not recall that is anything I said.
Context is so important. you are lacking something here.
