I can safely say people pay me all kinds of compliments as well.

Anyhow I think I have your measure. You're not arrogant, you are just a hangry old grump! If you were a young analyst fully aware of the ins and outs of the French AMX 30, and given it made service in '65 and was sold to many other nations in the 70's you could conceivably have been around 20 in 1980. That puts you at 61 give or take a decade, which means you could be as young as 51 but as old as 71.
A sixty something duchess makes all your life experiences possible and the occasional name dropping all too predictable for that age. Add in the constant repitition, copying and pasting away of the same information over and over again, and it all makes sense.
I won't characterise you as a favourite senile aunt, but you have grumpy old woman writ large over everything you say. And that explains a lot about your forum behaviour and (lack of) good natured etiquette.
