If I was in the position that you were in against me I would have
found it very difficult to win against all but a very naive player.

OK you don't bother reading players profiles but one time when you
really should do so is before claiming timeouts.

Also, it is considered polite to send a reminder before claiming
timeouts.

I have done exactly what you suggested about deleting games and
rechallenging with a longer timeout period. Unfortunately this nearly
always this ends up with the game being deleted and me being
unable to rechallenge because the player has reached their game
limit - which in the case of non-subscribers is very low.

This is exactly why we DESPERATELY need some form of notification
that the game we are about to play has come from a challenge.
Almost certainly you challenged me at a time when I was also starting
a batch of open invite games and it slipped by me.

Challenge me again with a 14 day timeout and I'll happily have
another stab at it. :-)

Any coding time I have available this weekend is going to be
dedicated to :
1) The 'I'm on vacation' mode
2) Tighter controls on challenges. (filter by rating, timeout period)
3) Banded tournaments.

Rhymester,
How about a flashing icon next to any fresh challenge in the 'your
games' list? This would be very easy to put in place. If this
suggestion fits your requirement, then I will put that at the top of my
list.

I am sorry Rhymester for claiming timeouts on you. I am not sorry
for the following reasons A.) If you were signed up for a real tourney
offline you would have lost all your games for simply not showing up.
B.) If I am not mistaken I was the very first victim of timeouts in
the quick fire tournament. Losing two games to Latex Bishop and
one to T1000. ooops I missed the moves by thirty minutes but oh
well.. and Finally C.) all you lost was points in the tournament you
did not lose rating points so I am sorry but I have to ask you why is
this still a subject for discussion..

Daniel - the topic is still a subject for discussion because you've
chosen to talk about it.
But just to answer a couple of points... I didn't enter the quick fire
tourney - that would have been silly and that is one tournament in
which the timeout period is crucial - the name 'Quick Fire' is a bit of a
clue... can't blame anyone for timing out people in that one.
When I entered the other tourneys not all of them had actually started
(not enough people had signed up) and there was no fixed date for
their commencement. In a real tourney off-line one would know the
time and date that you where meant to be playing and of course you'd
lose by not turning up. If the date of the tourney was a mystery until
the very last minute you'd also get lots of people being unable to
show up.
One other point. When I did start playing in the the tourneys that had
started all of the games where showing up as 7 day timeouts - I
assumed that a decision had been made that 3 days wasn't long
enough. I later learnt that this was an oversight by Russ who later
changed the timeouts back to 3 days. I'm not having a go at Russ by
the way - he also made it clear at the start of these tourneys that this
was as much a trial for the software and that we could experience
problems.
Finally, you are incorrect to say that I didn't lose rating points as some
of the games were more than 3 moves old and in those games my
opponents agreed not to time me out via in game messages before I
went away - but some still did.

Respectfully Rhymester

I am terribly sorry. In our games there were not enough moves and
had there been enough and you would have asked me I would not
have claimed on you. Lets get back to chess and have fun with it no
animosity ok?
