He's got my vote whether or not he wins this Superbowl or not. Detractors may say his years were inconsistent but is there really a story in football any better than his in this era? Isn't his the type of tale that true fame is built upon?

I think it says something that both a 37 and 39 year old quarterback are still better than most of the quarterbacks in the league.

he has had 3 kinds of seasons- MVP years, below average, and this current season...

yes, the only above average year he wasnt "#1" was this year!

just because its the position that gets all the credit i dont think he should go in.. we have brady, favre and manning all going in, and i dont think some of the lesser glamorous positions all get 3+

If he wins, he's a lock. If this were baseball, no way, but in football, winning is everything for a player's rep. If you win titles with 2 different teams and have 2 league MVPs and a Super Bowl MVP (or 2), you're in the HOF. All other numbers are basically irrelevant. I'm not saying they should be, but they are.

Didn't he spend a long time in Arena Football? Or maybe it was Canadian Football.. I forget, but he's only been in the NFL a relatively short time, I believe.

His numbers are pretty good. If he plays another two years he'll have at least as many career passing yards as Aikman and he'll be closing in on Steve Young.

He's been in the league for more than 10 years. That's enough.

I personally don't think he's one of the best QBs of all time and thus I don't think he belongs in the HOF. He's a good player, but he really benefited from the great players like Holt and Bruce and Faulk in St Louis. I have to give him a lot of credit for this year, but he had a lot of mediocre seasons in between.

That having been said, if he wins this SB and has a big game (which means a SB MVP as QBs who have big games in the SB win MVPs), he's a stone cold lead pipe lock for the HOF. Take it to the bank.

Joel Buschbaum deserves to be enshrined before Warner does.

Let's compare stats

Warner
yards 28,591, tds 182 ints 114, rtg 93.8 11 seasons

Aikman
TD: 165 Int: 141 Yds: 32,942 Rate: 81.6 12 seasons

Young
TD: 232 Int: 107 Yds: 33,124 Rate: 96.8 15 seasons

Jim Kelly
TD: 237 Int: 175 Yds: 35,467 Rate: 84.4 11 seasons

He already has more tds than Aikman with fewer ints. All qbs need to have good players around them to have good careers.

That is not always true. See George Blanda, Fran Tarkington, Len Dawson, Joe Namath...none were surrounded by greats, and all are in the HOF.

Then look at Kenny Stabler, Daryle Lamonica, Danny White & Craig Morton who were surrounded by loads of talent and are not in the HOF.

These are off the top of my head and I am sure there are plenty more examples of each.

George Blanda must be in the HOF because he was a quarterback for so long, his numbers certainly don't bear it out. Who knows why Namath is in there, personality I guess. I don't think you can hold the level of talent against him, that's all I'm saying. I've never heard anyone say that steve young shouldn't be there because he had Jerry Rice to throw it to.
