For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: "BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED. BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT."
(Romans 4:2-8 NASB)

Originally posted by C HessThe test wasn't for God's benefit at all; as has already been pointed out, God knew in advance what Abraham would choose. It was more to teach Abraham a lesson he'd never forget. God had promised to make a great nation of the descendants of Abraham, and had given him a son for that purpose. So there was a two-fold test.
Well, that's an interesting twist that merits some thought. Are you saying that Abraham wasn't tested so that god could figure out if Abraham's faith was good, but that it was all for Abraham's benefit?
You suggested above that god wanted to test if Abraham would do something immoral on command, but god would already know how Abraham would respond, ...[text shortened]... nhouse pointed out.
But this is a subtly different point you're making. Care to expand on it?
1) Did Abraham really think that God would go back on his word?
2) Would Abraham do something blatantly immoral simply because God had commanded it?
He failed on both counts. He learned an unforgettable lesson that day.

Abraham proved that he believed God and had faith in Him. That faith was counted to him as righteousness.

There was no God speaking to anyone.............and this is because the Bible is a book for the animal killers rendering it a fabrication by the ignorant at the time.
Understand that the Bible was deceitfully fabricated to control the people and to milk them of their funds and assets.
Even today people leave all their wealth to the Church so they can buy their way into heaven...............they are trying to buy their salvation but it buys nothing accept another birth in this material world of suffering.

Has anyone wondered if we should be saving so many humans from so many diseases? Our population has shot up to 7 billion and rising like mad. Perhaps there's plenty of us on the planet already, and we should even it out at this point?
