Saved but still needs to live righteously otherwise he will be a castaway.
Saved and eternal life in the Kingdom of God are not the same thing

Paul answers your question so did Peter. I can also find references from other Apostles as well about when they inherit eternal life.
And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. (1 Peter 5:4 KJV)
