The Handmaid's Tale depicts a "theonomy".

Theonomy - a type of theocracy - posits that the Biblical Law is applicable to civil law, and theonomists propose Biblical law as the standard by which the laws of nations may be measured, and to which they ought to be conformed. [wiki].

Has anybody watched it?

Any spiritual - philosophical - moral - ideological thoughts?

I have. Season 1, anyway.
I think it depicts the future of USA if noone is acting.
Within churches it's already there.

I see the show as a grim reminder of what most of human history has been like because of religion. It's a warning to never regress back to being ruled by religion.
