Science stands on one main quality and that is .......it prides itself of giving us all the truth (FACTS.)

Many useless - but some useful.

Facts that are true............that is what facts are.

They are truisms.

Some facts change under different circumstances - but they know that they change - and it becomes another fact so it remains true.

When science moves away from truth - it moves away from facts and enters the realm of fiction and fantasy.

With the science of origins encompassing the big bang and evolution - science has entered the world of fantasy and fiction and of course truth and facts are out the window.

When science does this - it is no longer science.

Science has won the trust of the public by giving the public many toys to amuse themselves with - in the way of computers and communication devices etc - and now the public accepts without question much of what science says because of this cheaply acquired trust.

Science has committed the greatest act of mis-use of trust - by speculating and fabricating their stories about the origins of man and the cosmos and in doing so have abused their power of authority/trust and consequently abused the people.

Why has science failed to give the community facts about the origins of man and the cosmos - and instead cheated the people and given them fantasy? (rhetorical question)

I know from where I sit...........that its because of dishonesty and arrogance and the fact that they have no clue.

You are confusing science with Scientism. This is a disservice to the work of genuine gurus.

"Scientism is a belief in the universal applicability of the scientific method and approach, and the view that empirical science constitutes the most authoritative worldview or most valuable part of human learning to the exclusion of other viewpoints.[1] The term frequently implies a critique of the more extreme expressions of logical positivism[2][3] and has been used by social scientists such as Friedrich Hayek,[4] philosophers of science such as Karl Popper,[5] and philosophers such as Hilary Putnam[6] to describe the dogmatic endorsement of scientific methodology and the reduction of all knowledge to only that which is measurable.[7]"

regardless of how you feel about the big bang it is terrible, terrible thing to suggest that science has cheaply acquired our trust. science has saved millions of lives, including my wife and daughter. id say thats far from cheaply acquired trust.

how do you survive in the world with these crazy thoughts? do you live in a commune? do you have any non hindu friends? is this all an elaborate joke?

Umm he wasn't actually saying that science has done no good, he was saying that
people put blind trust in its efficacy.

And stellspalfie was pointing out that they do so for good reason. I am fairly sure that both you and dasa are using computers (a product of science) and the internet (a product of science).

i know what he said. i was referring to his comment that science has bought our trust cheaply and i strongly disagree. science has done immeasurable good and has earned trust. maybe not 100% trust we should always question. but i resent him reducing the hundreds of years of hard work of thousands of people that have provided us with the amazing quality of life we have today and in general take for granted.

edit: its a bit hypocritical you suggesting blind trust is a bad thing.

No he's not. Really, he's not. If he was doing this, he would be saying don't listen to those people who misuse science for their own non-science agenda. You may read it in the way you say, because that is your feeling, but you should read other people's words for what they are. Please read it again.

He says:

...Science ... prides itself...

He does not say that some people put blind faith in it.

He says:

... science has entered the world of fantasy and fiction...

He does not say some people have done this.

He says, rightly:

...When science does this - it is no longer science.

But then he immediately ignores this and says:

...now the public accepts without question much of what science says because of this cheaply acquired trust.

But science does not even say there is no God! It is SILENT on the subject.

And he says:

...Science has committed the greatest act of mis-use of trust...

He does not say that some people have done this.

So I say, don't accuse the tools of inquiry, which science is. It is the politicians (in the general sense, of people who wield power through the manipulation of institutions and people) who will use any tool we have for engaging with our issues in life, including the tools of science, religion, or artistic expression, for their own advantage.

In an important non-literal sense, we are each from our own world.

So your wife and daughter have been given eternal life by science and now they will never die.

The problems of the world are birth disease old age and death which are not imperfections but perfections because this world is not our true or real home.

Giving someone a few more years of their life in this world is of no worth if they only have to meet with their inevitable death any way.

Science should instead be giving people true knowledge so they can live and work in accordance with true spiritual knowledge and conquer the illusion of death by returning home back to Godhead.

This would be truly a credit to science if they did this.

Do you discredit the plumber or the healer or the [name a skilled worker you rely on] for not "giving people true knowledge so they can live and work in accordance with true spiritual knowledge and conquer the illusion of death by returning home back to Godhead." ??

You are exalting science to a high place, in order to chop it down.
