Just a point of interest when it comes to religions that are or not involved in the teaching work Jesus told his followers to do as he did.
Four of the first thirteen placements here are by the JW's. The Mormons have one in this but where are the other Christian religions?

Have you heard of the Gideons ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_translations

Well anyway the JW's are not the only group/sect to have had the bible translated into other languages by any means.

So you see the JWs as a religion not a denomination?

As for which denomination has been most successful at spreading the word, surely what counts is converts and not number of translators. Clearly the Catholics win hands down.

As for translation, the vast majority of the world can speak one of the worlds main languages (English, Spanish, Manadarin, Portugese, French (any others?))

As for the Bible, a significant proportion of people prefer it to remain somewhat mysterious and in the past liked to have it in Latin, and nowadays like to have it in barely comprehensible Old English.

I believe the American Bible Society used to be a main source for
translations of bibles into many different languages. I don't know
if they still do it or not.

As far as teaching the bible, there are many Christian groups doing
that all over the world every day. Many do it the modern way by
using satellite television and short wave radio rather than going
door to door.

Further evidence of the 'vanity project' that the JW's have become.

5,000 children are killed everyday worldwide as a result of drinking unclean water. Do you not think that all the money and effort put into publishing your propaganda, which lets face it ends up as landfill, could be used to try and reduce that number?

couldn't the money used for curing alcoholics be better used to save 5000 children worldwide? how about the money used to discourage domestic violence? i mean the women are only beaten but children are dying, man.

for every cause out there, there are worthier causes. should we stop spending anything until other problems are solved? in other words, is a person giving money to anti-drug programs a nice person or a bastard because he should eb giving to worthier causes like world hunger or whatever is deemed more important.

he thinks he is saving people souls by spending his money on what you call propaganda and he calls salvation. how about you get money and provide children with clean water or whatever strikes your fancy. or prove that his money are wasted by showing why his position is flawed in itself, not because other positions are more worthwhile

Yes. We should. It is unconscionable to continue to allow children to die of starvation.

If the money that the Watchtower Society brings in would be used to try and stop such things as children dying, which is a terrible thing and only one of many, many things that we all want to be done away with, it would only be a drop in the bucket and would not stop these and other terrible things from happening.
We completely believe in Jesus miracles that he performed while on earth as this was a demonstration of what he will do in the future. It's things that man cannot cure or completely remove from this planet as only Jesus will do. If anything the earth is suffering more now on all levels then it ever has.
So we have faith in what Jesus said and we see the need in following the command to spread this "Good News" of what the future holds which would include the complete curing of these problems.

No Manny, not at all. This is just a point to show the many different books that the WTS has produced and all the languages they are in and compared to all other Christian religions. Other then he Mormons with the one book they have it's pretty much "0" from all the rest.
Do they not take Jesus's commands to teach earthwide serious?

The JW's have no aid agency, numerous other Christian groups do. Before Mr Galveston goes 'grandstanding' about how many publications his organisation has produced compared to other Christian denominations, maybe the thought might cross his mind that while his organisation are busy printing literature other denominations are spending their time and effort helping the most disadvantaged in the world.

The take home message i get from that post is -

'Too big a problem, so we can't be bothered. If we can't save them all we'll save none'

Curious attitude.

Yet Jesus spent his whole career as a preacher going round telling people to do just that.
