Is Love placid and serene or does it cut both ways?

Do we go out with a whimper or a bang?

    Thoughts?

    Happy Sunday to all!

    Love is very nicely described:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 New International Version (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
    Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Love sometimes fails. "I loved her, but I could not save her" as in several movies.

How does failing to save someone equate to failing to love them?

That’s a good question, tiger. You’ve really got your thinking cap on today.

You can try to save people, and yes, sometimes you fail.

But sometimes, when people don't wanna be saved, you just gotta let them go. You cannot let them drag you down. But I thought the ending to Romeo and Juliet was total BS, too.

People may fail, but Love never does. If someone fails you, it sure wasn't Love's fault.

Totally agree. I know I may let Tiger down sometimes, and he may let me down sometimes, but our love for each other will never fail,

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

    "Is Love placid and serene..."

Love is not static. It doesn't think of itself. One loves. Love is what one does. The product of love is it's deeds. Love is doing unto others as you would have others do unto you.

But I have a feeling you're talking about an emotion when you say placid and serene. Don't get me wrong. I think there is great emotion in loving and in being loved.

Emotion is a byproduct of love. In my opinion.

Does protecting mean striking down your enemies sometimes ?
