In that order ?
It's a joke.

Obama once referred to conservatives as people who clutch their guns and their Bibles.

Such bigoted arrogance has he. Again, I'm too insignificant and stupid to understand his enlightenment.

I know what some conservatives had a diaper rash about what he said.

Why are you complaining about not understanding the man?
Didn't you get your analysis from Rush on that, totally analyzing what that anti-Constitutional, Muslim, non-American, Socialist was thinking ?

Now what WERE we talking about? O Yeah, Genesis 1:1-2.

To be honest, I did not even bring up Obama.

I could really care less what he meant about it. He is free to offend anyone he wishes and still keep his NBA team.

Is the genesis told in chronological order? Did god create the heaven and the earth in verse 1, or did he merely create the matte ...[text shortened]... to be the universe? And where did "the waters" come from? Were they always there, in "the deep"?
Verse one is a general statement declaring when God created the physical heavens and the earth. Verse two begins providing some details of that creation.

In order for the biblical account of creation to be chronologically accurate and time-bound, time itself would have had to have been created first. Clearly this could not have been the case as space-time as we recognise and experience it did not exist until all the universe was in place, stretched out and moving dynamically as it is now (relatively speaking). Early creation time would have been as incomprehensible as early Big Bang time.

Edit: the two things are probably the same events.

Funny that of all the posters here, the one that should make most sense to me is you, RJHinds.

Thanks. 🙂

Allthough, if the second verse is not meant to be chronologically following the first, then why does it begin with: "And..."? Is this common use of "and" in the bible?

Are you saying that these first verses are about what happened before the inflationary epoch?
