It appears that Judas was only following Jesus' directives in newly discovered ancient texts. What are we to make of this?

How gross is this

Acts 1:18
(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

There must have been a very deep sinkhole.

Not as gross as this Biblical contradiction:

St Matthew 27:5-7
Flinging the money into the temple, [Judas] departed and went off and hanged himself.
The chief priests gathered up the money, but said, 'It is not lawful to deposit this in the
temple treasury, for it is the price of blood.' After consultation, they used it to buy the
the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners.

So what if people have different Points of View.

Plus Scripture is God's inspired.

He just wants it to be hard for the Prideful to understand like yourself.

That's rich. What are you, if not prideful?

Let me map your problem:

1) You hold as a tenet of faith that Scripture is without literal error.
2) Acts 1:18 and St Matthew 27:5-7 contain mutually exclusive accounts
(manner of death of Judas and the person by whom the field was purchased).

You've replaced one phobia (of AIDS) with another (Scripture is inerrant).

What I don't understand is why this is a news story. I've heard about alternative gospels pushing this line years ago.

And from the descriptions I've seen, this newly discovered text is gnostic in flavour. That's hardly news either.

Frankly, I blame the Da Vinci Code.

Interesting. You blame the da vinci code for a 1700 year old rediscovered document. πŸ™„
