no not really. i think you are over reacting. there is nothing malicious about the post, just poking a bit of fun out of robbie.

just as robbie enjoys calling people 'window lickers' doesnt really upset anybody (despite the rather insensitive nature of the phrase) as i think most understand that its not meant in an aggressive tone and is part of the banter. lighten-up man. however if it is deemed by the site to be breaking site rules, im more than happy to have it removed by the mods.

“The real hopeless victims of mental illness are to be found among those who appear to be most normal. "Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives, that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does." They are normal not in what may be called the absolute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. Their perfect adjustment to that abnormal society is a measure of their mental sickness. These millions of abnormally normal people, living without fuss in a society to which, if they were fully human beings, they ought not to be adjusted.”

nope that is not my definition, i have already stated that a window licker is someone who, for some reason, figuratively speaking, cannot eat the sweets in the sweetshop window and must therefore content themselves with licking the sweetshop window in desperation. I invented it with regard to those who view pornography, for rather than , for whatever reason, they choose to indulge their passions looking at women they will never make love to, they appear to me to be the same as someone who cannot sample real sweets in a sweetshop and must content themselves with licking the window, as I have explained. This definition is my own, regardless of what other people define window licker as and has nothing to do with being retarded or anything else.

Its not an ad hominem as you have erroneously assumed, for it seeks not to make any point other than what is inherent in the phrase, for an ad hominem, you need to make an argument on the basis of the insult, for example, 'that cannot be true because RJHinds is an engine user.'

i like your quote, very good. to me though, i see christians as the conformists, following what has been the norm for the last few thousand years. i see atheists and science driven people as the people stepping out from under the shadow of conformity of following the church, the new mavericks, the rebels, the people pushing the envelope and heading into the unknown. i think huxley was one of ours.

Agree. The dialectic insures that 'the abnormal' becomes 'the new normal' given time. Issue here is appropriate venue.

"i think you are over reacting"

... in what way does an applicable quote from the site owners with my supporting comment qualify as 'over reacting'?

or this,

“I had motives for not wanting the world to have a meaning; and consequently assumed that it had none, and was able without any difficulty to find satisfying reasons for this assumption. The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure metaphysics. He is also concerned to prove that there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do. For myself, as no doubt for most of my friends, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation from a certain system of morality. We objected to the morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom. The supporters of this system claimed that it embodied the meaning - the Christian meaning, they insisted - of the world. There was one admirably simple method of confuting these people and justifying ourselves in our erotic revolt: we would deny that the world had any meaning whatever.” - Huxely
