Today I visited a Unitarian Universalist church for a musical funtion, but I saw the most interesting and to the point philosophy of their theology. It was posted on a bulletin board. It went like this:

Is God keeping you from coming to church?
1) It is a blessing each of us was born.
2)It matters what we do with our lives.
3) What each of us knows about God is a piece of the truth.
4)We don't have to do it alone.

I like that. What do you all think?

I wonder why God doesn't want me in Church.

[snark]Pure saccharine.

1) It is a blessing each of us was born.

Does that include the socio- and psychopaths, I wonder? I don't think of it as anymore a "blessing" than the leaves and flowers that will soon bloom again. Jusy a by-product of happenstance.

2)It matters what we do with our lives.

Sure it does. Should we spend part of that life pretending it doesn't come to an end?

3) What each of us knows about God is a piece of the truth.

Not possible, given the inherent contradictions this would entail. Sounds like white noise.

4)We don't have to do it alone.

Hollow platitudes generally don't impress me.

An excellent post.

I think that claim 3, though so obviously flawed if you think about it, actually stems from the very problem it suffers from. ie People realize the problem that they cannot all be right and thus try to cover it up with "well at least we are all partly right" whilst ignoring the obvious conclusion that they are necessarily mostly wrong.

In fact, a more accurate 3. would have been:
3) What each of us knows about God is largely nonsense.
But whose going to admit that?

From millions of spermatozoids and some many ovules, you can bet it.

2)It matters what we do with our lives.
Of course it does... Why state the obvious?

3) What each of us knows about God is a piece of the truth.
I know God doesn't exist. I can feel it, and my spirit drives me to think so everyday. Such a strong and honest feeling must surely be true.

4)We don't have to do it alone.
You're right, there are many girls who can help you do it.

I think you wrote a piece of crap. I tried to follow.

At least it was easier to follow than those VIS's that Ivanhoe posts.
