By common sense; try it some time. I don't use words like "redeem"; "redeem themselves" to whom? If a car stalls on a highway, some stranger almost always stops and gives the driver a jump or a lift or some assistance. Why do you think that happens if men by nature are "evil" and "vile"? It is up to you to explain the millions of acts of kindness and caring that men do as matter of routine and normalcy every single day within the confines of your "human nature is evil" philosophy.
