I'm used to a few minutes after posting in order to correct typos. (I'm a bit anal, I guess.) Having edit counts appear right away makes it seem as if I've reconsidered or am reinventing. Is this something that has been considered, that we should have a five minute window or such?
If this bothers you, I suggest using the "preview before post" feature in the posting entry screen. The preview feature was added to deal with this situation, and several others as well. It's particularly useful when you're using tags (sometimes it takes me 3 tries before the tag works).

Maybe you are "reconsidering or reinventing" and this editting "in order to correct typos" claim is just you erecting a plausible deniability option.

I suggest you stop caring whether or not it seems as if you've reconsidered or are reinventing.
