This idea is simple. There should be a conditional move option that whatever move is played by the opponent the same identical response is made. This would save a lot of time in game positions where your next move is very clear despite what the opponent plays. The way it is now, is counterintuitive. I have to select every possible move by the opponent even though my response will always be the same.
This should be fairly easy to program and would facilitate the progress of many games.
Originally posted by AbleHeart TooI wish that the conditional move interface just had a 'record' and 'stop' button. Hit "record", then enter all the branches of moves you want [you should be able to go 'back' and 'forward' at will while recording] then hit "stop". The page should NOT reload at any point during move entry. Only after "stop" is pressed should the data sent to the server. Any illegal branches in the tree should be trimmed automatically.

The server should save [and display] all the branches using chess notation instead of a bunch of diagrams, which just causes confusion.
There should also be an 'edit' button to allow changing of branches later on.
Oh, and I also support the "If any, then X" option that OP proposed.
Yes there should be a 'if any then play x option' and this
should be transmitted to your opponent just like players did in
the golden olden days of postage stamp chess.
This resulted in some magnificent howlers.
1.d4 g6 sending "any then 2....Bg7" So White sent 2.Bh6 Bg7 3.Bxg7
Such an option would produce some classic examples of this sort,
especially with some of the nutters (I mean that in a kind way) who play on here.
You just have to put this in. Rec'd.

If you use the 'any' option then yes your opponent should be advised.
Something like:
"Your opponent indicates no matter move you play he will reply 37.Kh2."
In the old days you had to tell your opponent what all your conditional moves were.
It was all part of the fun and it speeded things up (saving postage etc).
Just the 'any' option. Single conditionals should be kept private.
Put the option in, if you don't like then don't use it.

Your opponent should not have access to your conditional move! Any of them.

OK I'm going to send 'Anything you do and I'll do this." PM's.
Ha Ha. You cannot stop me doing this so I get my own way after all. I win. 😏

Write a in-game message to your opponent, and write it like you were to write it in the Note-book area. Something like "If he does Kxe2, then I do Qf5, and I win", but a little more subtle of course. Qf5 will lose more or less instantly, so he does Kxe2 and wait for the win. But do i do the Qf5? No, of course not. I move Nd4#.
So I don't want to give my move in advance, conditional or not, unless I want to trick him.
