With all the furious debate on the general forum, now would be a good time to have a vote on what truely is the number 1 sport, and forever put this baby to rest.
I propose the following contestants:
Soccer, NFL Football, Cricket, Chess, Snooker, Baseball, Rugby, Soccer and Hockey.

Now chess just naturally goes with Football automatically and sense the olympics classifies Chess as a sport then who am I to argue? It can still be played during penalties and beer commercials and halftime. College football is so closely related to NFL that there really isn't a reason not to include it in the same category as the NFL. The rest is only worthy of honorable mention. And Soccer doesn't get two votes so it is disqualified. There you have it.

What about all those individual sports. Bowling, Lawn Darts, swimming, diving, horseshoes, darts, crochet, triathlon, biathlon, marathon runners, speed skating, sprinters, barrel jumping, logging competitions, and the thousands of others I don't know yet?

Soccer (euopean Football) would probably win the fan base vote, But possibly Golf would win a participation vote.
