Storms kills over 21,000 birds on French coast

I know we have got some seriously bad weather in the UK recently with all the flooding and hurricane-force winds doing huge damage. This has been one of the worst winters on record. Even though my house and general area wasn't actually flooded and escaped the worst of it, the storms even did some miner damage to my property which I since repaired.
Now I hear the french have got a load of it and it has killed many birds:
