That's impossible. It wouldn't be a planet anymore if it ate its star, by definition.

The earth receives a lot of material from the sun and practically nothing goes the other way (due to the solar wind).
So technically the Earth is tasting the sun, but not really eating it and 'swallowing it whole' just wouldn't cut it.
