Still not very efficient, but how much potential is there? If decent, fitting this in busy undergrounds, dance floors or shopping malls could be an interesting solution...or just a gimmick.

Any views?

Q. Where does the energy come from?
A. People.

Q. Are paving slabs that make walking more tiring going to be popular?
A. ........

Shopping malls and high streets probably not a good idea but train stations, offices etc where LOTS of people making SHORT walks then it is almost something for nothing - good idea.

I always thought we should use giant mouse wheels instead of treadmills and generate energy instead of using it.

Of course, you wouldn't look half as cool in a giant mouse wheel and that's what gyms are all about.
