Octopi DNA is not from earth
It also wouldn't surprise me, since octopi are astonishingly intelligent, almost beyond belief, with a nervous system that's unearthly.

Digesting organic food on the other hand is probably not a strong hint. Beings on Earth digest quite diverse food sources. If a being is organic itself it should be able to find organics they can use a s food.

It is silly to suggest octopus genes are alien since the fundamental DNA structure is identical to any other life on Earth.
My guess is that would never happen in some planet around another star unless there is something causing DNA from Alpha Centauri or other stars to be the same as Earth DNA.

Perhaps we need to redefine the word 'alien'. If our ancestors live 2000 Ly away, are they really alien?
What I think is really silly is for an engineer or scientist to assume they know what technology will be like 45,000 years from now.

There could be life 45,000 years or 450,000 years or 4 million years more advanced than ours.
