A team at MIT was looking at where energy was being wasted and they found one such: Shock absorbers use up some 10% of the energy of a vehicle and they built shock absorbers that actually generate one Kw of energy per shock!

Amazing! Those kids are gonna be rich.

It's interesting to note that the average house uses about 1-2 kW. Theoretically, a truck driver could carry a large battery with him, let the shocks charge it up during the day, and then come home and plug his house in! (There are some "challenges" with this approach obviously, but supplementing home power might not be so difficult...hey, a trucker can dream 😏)
