Hopefully this will be made (it's my first attempt at FEN) but if it is, White to move. Mate in 1.
Oh well. It doesn't work. The instructions for FEN don't make sense!! Can someone a) Explain it simply.
b) Set up the board:
Black; Rc8, Ne8, Ng8, Rh8, Kh7, Pg7, Pe7, Pd7, Qc7, Bb7, Bb6, Ph6
White; Pf7, Pd4, Bc4, Ba3, Pb3, Pe3, Nf3, Qg3, Pa2, Pc2, Nd2, Pg2, Ph2, Ra1, Rf1, Kg1.
Sorry.

Here is the FEN:
2r1n1nr/1bqppPpk/1b5p/8/2BP4/BP2PNQ1/P1PN2PP/R4RK1 w

And the board:

The solution is obvious.

There are far too many pieces on the board. For such a simple idea, all you need is:

Yes it is simple. However I think that some 1300s will need to think a bit. (and I decided to try FEN.)

Yes. But that would be very very simple, instead of the simple one I posted. Besides, BigDogg, you seem to be a puzzle genius!

New puzzle. Shouldn't be too hard. Hope this one works!! If White has played Qe3, then Black can Mate in 2.

Invalid FEN inserted - 1r4k1/p1pbb1p1/3q2np/3p1p2/p1Pn1P2/B2PQ1PN/r5BP/1NKR/1R2 w

By the way, White played Qe3 because BxQ NxQ#

And thanks Mephisto for explaining it in a diagram.

As in the other thread, it's mate in 1 too.

b. Qxa3+
w. Nxa3
b. Bxa3#

Or at least that's how I see it.

You've got two shorter ways of winning.

This is one thing that's wrong with placing 'window dressing' pieces on the board - you actually spoiled your own problem, because Black has Nb3# or Rc2#, which work faster than your intended solution.

Good point. I am an amateur. While I was constructing the problem, I placed the Knight there and forgot to remove it when I added the a2 Rook. But well done also to the people who spotted Qxa3+ Nxa3 Bxa3#

Today I was Black in a position similar to this (without the "window dressing"😉 and my opponent played the wrong move and subsequently lost. What should they have played (I see only one good move..)

Another puzzle. Absolutely easy (and with me, that's saying something in terms of puzzles!). I hope everyone can get this. If Black plays Nxd4, what is White's continuation? This was on a puzzle sheet I recieved. I have quite a collection of puzzles, most of them made by me.
