ask 1 "If in 5 minutes, I ask you is god 2 random, would you say 'da'?"

Consider the case when da is yes,
then a truthful god will give the answer da if 2 is random
and a lying god will give the answer da if 2 is random
Consider the case when ja is yes,
Then a truthful god will give the answer da if 2 is random
and a lying god will give the answer da if 2 is random

If 2 is not random:
when da is yes, a truthful god will give the answer ja, and a lying god will give the answer ja.
when ja is yes, a truthful god will give the answer ja, and a lying god will give the answer ja.

If 1 is random, he can say either ja or da.

SO... after asking the above question, an answer of da means that either 1 or 2 is random.
An answer of ja means either 1 or 3 is random.

In both cases, go straight to the one who isn't random.

Part two:
Ask the non-random god, "If I were to ask the other non-random god "is 1 the random god?" would he give me an answer that means yes?"

If we are talking to the liar, then we have asked for his opinion on whether the truth teller would say yes if 1 is random.
If one is random, the truth teller would say yes, and our non-random would say "no"
If we are talking to the truth teller, then we have asked for his opinion on whether the liar would say yes if 1 is random. If 1 is random, the liar would say no, and our non-random would say "no"

If 1 isn't random, all of the above swaps around.

Part three:
Go back to god 1. Ask the question "Is your answer to this question going to mean 'no'?"
If we have the truth teller, they cannot answer, because we have a paradox. If we have the liar, they cannot answer, because we have a paradox. If we have the random person, they will say something.

If they speak, god 1 is random, and the word for 'no' is whatever the answer was to question 2.
If they don't speak, the god you haven't asked any questions to is random, and the word for 'yes' is whatever the answer was to question 2.

3 questions. Solved 🙂

wow 😲, that's genius

but do you know who is the liar and who is the truth teller? I missed that part...

My main problem is that, however good I am at these things, I always prefer solving a completely different question to the one set.

I answered "find the random one, and determine what da and ja mean"...

To get the answer to the actual question, you can basically repeat part 1.
You say "if I ask you 'is 1 the random 1' in 5 minutes time, will you say da?"
where da means 1 is the randomer. ja means the one you haven't asked a question is the randomer.

Then "if I ask you 'is # the lying scumbag of a god' in 5 minutes will you say da?"

and you can determine the identities, but you still don't know what da and ja mean XD

or just instead of the second question you ask: 'Does da mean yes?' 😛

^ the first question does not find the truth teller. It finds one of the non-random gods.

You could ask "would the other non-random say that da means yes?"
But then we've wasted a question and still don't know any identity 🙁

Does da mean yes?

Truth teller
da = yes: answers da
da = no : answers da

Liar
da = yes: answers ja
da = no : answers ja

If I ask a yes/no question that cannot be answered, will the gods just not answer?
Eg
I ask God A "If I ask God C if 1 equals 2 would he answer in the affirmative"

If God A does not answer then

God C is Random. (Even Liar must know the answer in order to respond with a lie?)
Ask A "If I ask ask God B if 1 equals 2 would he answer in the affirmative"
Response given (da or ja) must mean Yes.

Otherwise
God C is Not Random.
Response given (da or ja) must mean Yes.
Ask God C "If I ask God A if 1 equals 2 would he answer in the affirmative"
If God C does not answer then
God A is random
otherwise
God B is random

Now, after two questions you know who is random and which of da and ja is Yes.

Now we use the old "Doctor Who" trick to work out which of the other two are True and False.

Ask one of the two "If I ask [The other one] if he is Truth would he answer in the affirmative"
Response given will always be a lie so we know the actual answer!

PS Sorry for assuming gods are Male! Just used "He" for clarity! 🙂

Gods know everything, so they even know what the random will answer next time 🙂

Ps: A female god is a goddess 😛
