this PROVES bishops are better cause if black had 2 bishops instead of knights black would win

if it is closed, and you exchange a knight for a bishop, shame on you...
remember, experts think a bishop is worth slightly more than a knight based on THEORY
theory does not cover every position...
This is now getting stupid.

I agree with Rubberjaw the Bishop is slightly better than the Knight, as I said 3.5 to 3.25, but the position and activity of the pieces will always dictate.

I'm currently playing a game where my bishops are dominating.

Game 3203938 It is in progress, no comments please, but I know how to use my bishops and that knowledge has won many games. I have won more games with bishops then I have with knights. I usually use my knights to trade for bishops which is harder to do then to use your bishops to trade for knights.

It appears Mr. Newmann has some bugs in his fen code.

Grrrrrr...

Could we please stop with the faulty FEN codes going outside of the post itself?

(Nothing new to add, but the off the board pieces are annoying and in the way. Plus they add nothing to the debate at all.)

I agree with several on here that the bishop has a slight edge overall, but that either piece could be better depending on the board position (particularly pawn structure) and how mobile the piece itself is.

In the board above, black knights are bad, white knights are good, white bishop is bad, black bishop is good.

For RHP addons...

The white bishop isn't really bad. Its more illusory than anything else.

i generally like both,
Bishops to pin pieces from far away and then knights to fork pieces.

Well, it's bad for the moment because it has no mobility. You're right though that one pawn move will free it, and thus it isn't near as bad as either black knight.
