In the top 10 players thread there were 5-6 players who made almost every list, but what about the rest? Tal and Smyslov were both mentioned as underrated, anyone else? No one apart from me mentioned Reuben Fine, but then he did have quite a short career.

DUNCAN SUTTLES

International Grandmaster and a Correspondence Chess Grandmaster!
He could play 1.g3 and 1...g6 better than anyone. 😏

Maybe he'll make a comeback for the World Championship?

Euwe. He played some of the most instructive games you can find, but I think he receives the least recognition of all the WC's.

I love the guy- his games are a significant influence on what I play.

Keres and Fine were the big two that come to mind.

I have always loved this game of Euwe's, the last move brings a smile every time.
He has a lead in development, and finds a way to keep more of his pieces active the whole game.

I think Spassky is definitely the most underrated of the "great players". It seems like all the legends (Fischer, Kasparov, Karpov) have a very high opinion of him, and yet amateurs never give him the credit he is due because of the "Match of the Century". I was reading Yasser Seirawan's new book, "Chess Duels", at Barnes and Noble recently and he thinks Spassky is the 5th greatest player of all time. Of course, I couldn't say for sure if he's top 5 material, but he's definitely top 10. In the last top 10 thread he wasn't even mentioned... Personally I love his games.

So that explains why new books look used at bookstores. Could you stop that?

I go to bookstores so I can look at the book before I buy it. This seems logical to me.

He said he read it. Of course we all look first. He didn't say he bought it.
