A pretty strong player in my local league regularly turns up in a tired and emotional state for matches. The tactic we employ against him is to keep the game going for as long as possible before initiating the serious confrontation. After two hours play he is generally unable to accurate calculate the complications.

I once beat this chap in a blitz game using the following ancient trap when he was tired and emotional to the tune of a gallon of guinness:

fatty, you spoiled the thread by failing to include pictures of the drunken GM. A pic says a thousand words. 😀

My wife tried the same trap but her opponent didn't fall into it:

i could not find a picture, either in the Hindustan times, nor the Times of India, nor any of the Pakistani national papers which have reported the incident. 🙁

And you didn't actually play this game against Tkachiev but against a drunk Englishman?

I have had this trap hit me when I was playing bullet chess on the internet. Along with the Bg5 Queen trap it is something to watch out for in those microseconds.

Lol. Most of these are setup (unrated) games. If you play through them, you will find that the winner isn't always the one standing better in the end position, it merely means that I decided that that lesson was over. Some games are just replays of master games with the score known by me only.
