Using maths is unfair.
I cannot see an equation for the piece giving check being taken
as in the game I just posted.
Come on SG, I've plucked 101 out of the air, don't let me down.
Find 50 and I'll spin the board gving us 100. I can handle being out by one.

We both forgot about a possibility, however.
The side about to be mated doesn't have to be in check.
To avoid ruining the mate in one, he can't give check however.
This formation ...
... (premove Qg7) looks like it could have a lot of possibilities that don't check or defend g7!

He's changed the rules.
He has hijacked the thread and changed the rules..... 🙁
Well, anyway, it works much better in check. I really liked what was posted.

He's unchanged the change in the rules and tried to unhijack the hijacked thread.
I think we are wtinessing a complete mental breakdown.
Nobody post. Let us see what he does next.
You were way off on this one!

Hi mikenay
Thanks for posting, I like to get some kind of feedback.
I think I mentioned the plan of Re8 vacating f8 for the Queen.
Also think you castled too early. you have to try and catch up with development.
A good instructive game by your opponent.
I think it's true about the Najdorf and being a good player.
I played it once, Just once. h,
if I lost it was because I over sacced.
Thanks again and glad to see you used a fen. 😉
Yes, you certainly mentioned the defensive attempt with the queen. In fact I found you read my mind, or at least my moves, perfectly. I was only trying to add a bit of texture to the game by explaining when my defensive attempt got busted from my perspective, and how the numerous threats had me bouncing around in defence, which is never good! I think I might have got something from a lesser player, but, as you say, Mike played it very well.
Can't disagree that I castled too earlier either. I chose to play the Najdorf to try and understand it better from the black side (having faced it a bit as white), but leaving the bishop unprotected is just a tactical blunder. I'm not great at analysing my own games, but your annotations have been really useful at making me in this instance.
Cheers
Mike

Black has forty legal moves, all of which fail to the pre-move Bf8(x)e7#
