It's important to blockade enemy passed pawns. If you can't promote, assassinate!



Always good to centralize your King in the 'endgame', haha.

I managed an Assassin Pawn mate in an ending OTB earlier in the week. I'll start from the ending, as the middle game was a bit of a muddle, and I should have been much better and much worse at different times.

This isn't one of my games; it was on the front page of the site when I logged in today. It's an interesting game; White is the higher-rated player by about 500 points, and he drops a piece fairly early. Towards the endgame, he's just trying for perpetual check it looks like, when his opponent foolishly brings his king to the center of the board with the queens still on.
