10. Bxh7+ looks pretty cool but you could of just won the knight with 10.g4.

Ah the simple things that are missed in blitz.
I guess I was expecting d7 or e8 for the knight
and my sights were already set on h7!

[Result "1/2-1/2"]

1. Ng1-f3 d7-d5 2. c2-c4 d5-d4 3. e2-e4 {If black plays c5 or e5 I play d4 and have a reversed czech Benoni}
d4xe3 4. f2xe3 e7-e6 5. d2-d4 c7-c6 6. Bf1-d3 Bf8-e7 7. O-O Ng8-f6 {black finally develops a piece - I'll shift it!}
8. e3-e4 O-O 9. e4-e5 Nf6-h5 {That must be bad!}
10. Bd3xh7 {the ...[text shortened]... 16. Qh5xf7 Kh7-h8 17. Qf7-f8 {draw agreed}

I cut the game and posted it immediately afterwards.

That would be sweet too as it necessarily counters the check.

Good eye Mr. TomTom. That move is absolutely devastating. Its so elegant and simple...without providing mate! What a test! - it belongs in a tactics manual.

Where is the resident writer Mr. Pawn? He should be writing this down. This is a perfect inclusion in his tactics book. I'll buy a copy.

Yes, I spotted it instantly because I missed such a move against a rival of mine... I couldn't live it down for months. I had even considered playing the move but hadn't realized it would come with discovered check so I quickly discarded it! 😞

a proper understanding of the pawn structure would have revealed this discovered
check, instantly 😛

Then learn it quickly because if I have opponents that I know are unaware of the en-passant rule, I tend to exploit them!
