I usually resign games if im losing, even if only by a piece. I promised myself not to resign this one no matter how bad things got, and things got very bad indeed. But i stuck fast to my resolution, and what an exciting turn of events!

If you are out of pices but full of luck - you can still win.
If you are out of luck but full of pieces - you can still lose.

So when shold I give upp and when should I continue?

When you're out of luck & pieces you should think seriously about resigning.
