11.Re1+ was better but it's basically the same. 11...Be6 12.Nc3 Qd7 13.Ba3

Transposition.

I'm just going over the ideas behind the move and the plans, I don't really want to get into this move is only 2nd best compared to ___. Old master games were not perfect but they are great examples of strategy and planning and easy to understand.

BTW, computer engines often disagree with old master games. The point of this is not for me to show the best moves, it's just to show the idea behind the moves and why they worked even if they are the second best move.
The way I [miss]- read seemed to suggest that nobody was right, out of 2-3 replies....

I know computers often disgree, but nonetheless, computers are good for pointing out the blindingly stupid errors (90% of the time that is.)...

Anyway I don't pay too much attension to 1st, 2nd choices, etc -- that is, unless the numerical difference is more than trivial

In the game, I wrote 4...Bxc5 but it should be 4...Bxb4.

4.b4 Bxb4 5.c3 Bc5 .....

I see you are over 1700.

If I add you to the list then you have to answer the puzzles and PM your solution to me. That's my deal? Accept?

OK, that's fine. 😉 I'm just barely over 1700 though, so I'm not that strong.

No offense, but I didn't join the group.

My dancecard is currently full between my games on here; my personal chess trainer program and a book I bought but didn't read.
