But, that two hundred points is tough I've heard. It wasn't so hard getting to 1600-1700 area. But, know that 1800 is a tough one to accomplish. Looks like Rahim has accomplished it though. He gives me hope. 🙂
Hmmm....
I peaked at 1660 so when rahim does something on 1700-1800 i'll really start reading.
as for why I'm posting, well seeing as I have passed 1600, and seeing as I have 0 games going on at the moment, perhaps I can be of some assistance to the 1400's reading this thread.
So....If anybody wants to issue an unrated challenge, I'll do my ...[text shortened]... etly outplay you can disregard my "advice" completly, and i'll see you in the 1600's....

So do you have 2 years? 3+ hours everyday studying and not playing chess?
^I think a 1800 would have marginally stronger abilites across the board, however I think its positional judgement and perhaps planning that give them the edge.
My bouts with 1800's (and above) tend to end quickly, If its not lost by a blunder then it is because I've come out of the opening/middle badly, and then it gets worse.
Originally posted by ShinidokiI say blunders first, and then middlegame and openings.

Third game, Blunder again.
Fourth game, Not knowing the opening well enough, 5...Nc6 is wrong here. That's what started white's attack, Blunder at the end.
I read your comments on why you lost. This is basically what I see.
1. You aren't using an opening book or database.
2. You are missing tactics and losing pieces.
3. You are not asking your self what your opponents threat it.
Read my 1400 thread like I recommended before, follow that advice on page 2 and then I can help you. I can't help you if you keep playing chess this way without thinking about your opponents threat and replies to your moves.

2. i want to be really good, 1600 is one of many numbers between 1316 and really good.
3. 3 games, 1 inactive. i tend to take games in waves, like fill up and play them all, then fill up again. I'm a very busy guy, (and a non subscriber) but i can play lots more if needed. the number of minutes i spend on each move varies widle ...[text shortened]... i basically forfeited my half of the board to him while i moved my queen around a lot.

1. MIODude - 1574 (but.. I lose more often against 1600+ people. I can't stay consistent above 1600
2. 2 years on the site.. i think I need to show more improvement
3. Currently playing 24, but usually have about 40 on the go. Typically 2 minutes a move.. sometimes more.. if its an obvious swap, much less
4. No.. i haven't dropped below 1500 for a while.. so I never read it.. I was on my way to 1600, but its so hard to keep it up there!
Game 2232907 Move 20, I think I should have taken the bishop (dxc6). This caused me to have 2 split pawns, and from there, it just got worse trying to defend them
Game 2100218 Blunder when I lost my bishop on move 15.. I didn't notice I had him boxed in
Game 2030540 stupid move 13, and complete blunder on move 17 . This was a bad game for sure
Game 2155688 move 19 (pawn b2-b4) lead the way to lose my knight on A4
Game 2155691 Move 28 led me into a swap that then caused a fork to lose a major piece down.
I'll go back to your "how to get to 1400" and see what it says too

Hello Chess fans from around the world. It's finally here! What you guys have been asking for. Anyone interested should do the following things below:
1. Rhp Name and Rating
2. Why you want to get to 1600
3. How many games are you currently playing and on average how many minutes do you spend on each move?
4. Have you read my Need help getting to 1400 ...[text shortened]... so we can compare. Plus I'm only allowed 10 PM's in 24 hours. I love the life of a non-sub 🙂
1. Zebano: 1668 (peaked at 1770 and immediatly crashed back down to 1500 - a lot of wins followed by a lot of losses)
2. I would like to compete for our state title in the next couple of years (we only have 2 experts and the rest of the field is class A and below, so I think this is possible; I am currently a class B USCF player).
3. I used to play 100+ but am down to 50 concurrent games. I usually spend between 10seconds and 10 minutes on a move with an average of around 1 minute. Median time is probably 20 seconds.
4. I have read it. I do forget to consider my opponents threats every so often.
5.
Game 2216100
I achieved a superior endgame but miscalculated (I reviewed them and realized I gave myself 2 moves in a row =/). The miscalculation dropped a pawn for no compensation leaving me lost....
Upon further review I still had some play.
a3!, b5, b4 (or a5, a4), Kg7, Ke7, and white holds the draw...
note that if a/b5 is ommited by black, white just skips his a/b4 move
I resigned a drawn game =(
Game 2324376
Move 12 was nothing but a blunder...
Game 2320151
Move 10 left my opening preperation behind. I didn't check a db/book. I believe that Be3, Bc5, Bxc5 would have been fine based on the fact that he is moving his already developed bishop again while I am just trading off an undeveloped piece (both can influence the critical d4 square).
Move 13 then lost tactically.
Game 2216099
I transposed into a catalan (an opening I don't know) didn't use a book/db, lost a pawn, then another, then trapped my knight. =(
Game 2277078
Move 15 just drops a pawn with no compensation. It just got worse from there Move 26 was another obious blunder.
