So as you all know... cause you follow my every move....
I used to play Hyper-modern crap openings....

I switched to Classical openings....1.e4 1.d4 and 1...e5 and 1...d5

The only problem opening I have is the Kings Gambit...

Should I accept or decline? I'm in favour of declining....

1.e4...e5
2.f4...d5 Falkbeer counter-gambit is fun.

I play it as white and the only way to play it (as black) is to accept it. Either accepting it early and consolidating, or possibly delaying accepting it.

You might try the Abbazia defense(Modern Defense is its listed in the games explorer)
1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 d5
If white plays the kings bishops gambit (3. Bc4), then your going to need something else.

I hate this line as white as it takes alot of the sting out of the KG. The game develops into an open game, without alot of tricky tacics that sometimes arise out of the KG. It allows black to take control of the game and should lead you into more familiar territory then your opponent. Black has a better win % then white in this line in the games explorer, masters games.

Well soundness really isn't that much of an issue at our level.
But yes, it's perfectly fine.
Players who have used the Falkbeer Couter-gambit (& won with the black pieces) include Short, Karpov, Morphy, Gligoric, Marshall, Pillsbury etc etc.
If it's good enough for them you might be ok!

I played against this as white 4 times.... I lost 4 times. If you opponent doesn't know theory(which i still don't on it), then white is screwed...

After 1.e4...e5, 2.f4...d4, 3.exd5...e4 white really should play 4.d3! which can easily be missed. If not, I'd say black has a decent early advantage.

It may well knock him back. If you're playing a 1200-1400 most probably he'll hope you'll accept with 2...exf4 then he'd try to play optimal KG moves such as Nf3/d4/Bxf4/Bc4/0-0/Nc3 so white's plan comes to a shuddering halt on black's 2nd move in the Falkbeer.

if he is worthy enough to even think of playing the KG he will know these lines...if he doesn't then you should just accept(the next time you play him and he plays the KG) and then play 3...g5 followed by 4...g4 and you will most likely win because doesn't know what the crap he is doing.

no I just have been trolling the general forums. He doesn't have to there are many better options than giving up the knight...but if he doesn't know what he is doing he will most likely bungle and give you a great advantage.
