This is completely false logic Mad One.
I too have looked for points on the other pieces,
and by your reckoning.....
Queen= 10 points (agreed)
Knight = 2 points (one for each ear)
The rest are worth no points because....they have no points.
So a Queen is worth 5 Knights. Hmmmmm......

The bishop - Who knows what lurks underneath that funny looking hat?
The pawns are worthless and can be completely ignored, and the rooks are vastly overrated.

Another thread touches upon this but as usual everyone
has gone it all wrong.
Looky guys. The average chess cost £5.00.
So £5.00 divided by 32 (the number of chess pieces) = 0.15625.
So the Queen is worth approx 16p.
Yet another debate solved by Green Pawn.......Next?
I have a suggestion: couldn't we say the following rule: "the more symmetrical the situation between whites and black, the more relevant the absolute values of pieces (1/3/5/9)"
though the reverse may not be true.
But it is worth noticing those who reject the absolute classification always take highly assymetrical situations.
