I was curious what black's error was checked it out with database and fritz. Maybe in the opening it would have been more correct to not play a6 but bishop d7 or g7 right away. But the game turning error looks like rook takes b2. Should have played c4 to have some counterplay with Queen b6 check. Not very obvious. Or queen b6 first preparing a discovered check. Or minimully rook e8 to give the king some breathing room. Interesting game.

and I do not see why the king was moved off the g file in the first place. What black need to do was get the rook out of the way with queen e7 and the rook moved away from the king to give the king room with any checks. That win had nothing to do with the opening imo. It had to do with black not concentrating suficiently in escape squares.

It depends on the plan I choose. If I play normal d6, Nge7, g6 Bg7 plans maybe you are,
but not if I play b5 e5, d5 plans then a temp up....you are not!! 🙂
