Game 6195159

My first game here 🙂 thanks for the game banx99 !

Managed to pull through... just. I think if white played 16 or 17 N x Bc5 the attack could have worked? was worried about that.

Anyone else fancy a game please post.

But if blacks bishop on g5 is still pinning the f2 pawn then the bishop sacrifice on g4 is much more sound, i don't think white can take it. but they often do (eg. in the game above if white played d3, rather then d4)

also with f6, you can play g5, h5 easily..
the bishop sac is similiar to a trap out of the Ruy exchange variation.

I think it was correct, but your f6 pawn was in the way, again.

It was a good game. just one move wrong and that attack would have won.... like i said at the start i use the f6 move like a trap... n do find people walk into it. but recon there might be some tactical means like banx was trying to crush it... it look like a good defencse to me so there must be a reason why it's not popular.

Hi

Just realised that the game you are talking about is not the
game that is displayed but another game Game 6195159

Had a quick look.
White missed a chance to win a piece in that game from this position.

That trick is sole result of 3...f6? I'm not too fond of that move.
There are plenty of better 3rd move choices for Black than 3...f6.

If you are interested in seeing f6 used in practise, I once played it against a fide master in a tournament,:
http://www.chesslive.de/scripts/server.dll?setplayer?black&Stewart,Joseph

It is the second game in the list. I lost eventually, being a much lower rated player back in those days and the game was over 6 hours long so I was too worn out to think of anything decent at the end, but I feel that it did give me some chances and I may well have held a draw if I played him now from the same sort of position.

Good effort. He knew he had been in a game of chess there.
You can walk away from that one with your head high.

These good players wear you down at the board. I don't think I could
do the 6 hour stint OTB these days. It's too long and I'd probably
play the same moves as I would if was an allegro.

Mr T What about 11...a6, 12 bc4, bg4, ?
Then you can play Qd7, g5 or h5 to attack the castle?

Leaves your king stuck in the centre i guess. might be safe-ish on d7 eventually?

Greenpawn thanks from around move 10 I thought there was trouble.
was trying to see if i can get out of it with BxN but no..
