While the Evan's Gambit might be better than the King's Gambit, the opportunities to use the Evan's are far less. White can play the King's Gambit every time that Black plays 1...e5, while Black has to play 2...Nc6 and 3...Bc5 in order to employ the Evan's Gambit. Studying the King's Gambit would probably profit the aspiring gambiteer moreso than spending a lot of time studying the Evan's Gambit.
