I played this on another site and I think it applies. I followed opening principles rather soundly:

- Black's first 7 moves should be pawn moves.
- Bishops before knights.
- Move pieces more than once.
- Move the queen early and often.



Yes, once I'd moved 9. Ba6 I saw the obvious Qf6 😳

I believe that was GM Carlsen playing with a Queen's Rook and Knight handicap. Only explanation.

Development doesn't help much if you're exposing your King, dropping pawns for no apparent reason, and positioning your 'developed' pieces badly. 😕
