White gives up a whole Knight.

Happy to play black against that, rated or unrated.

In Nordic-central gambit, there is a variation where white gives 2 pawns for development(e4 e5 d4 exd4 c3 dxc3 Bc4 cxb2 Bxb2....here he gives a Knight for a pawn, so again 2 pawns...(about the same)

I've tried this before simply because it's called the Irish gambit. It's not too bad as white can make a lot of nice attacks and gain much space.

I have to say chess would be a funny old game if white could get away with garbage like that. Fortunately he can't, and among strong players black would score close to 100%. However, I have to admit it does seem to improve slightly played after the 4 Knights Game, i.e. 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nxe5??! Nxe5 5.d4 when white does get a little play for the piece though objectively nothing like enough.

As with any gambit, it depends on the quality of the opposition. I have a feeling that in the game shown above white will be ok😉
Not that it proves anything about the worth of the Chicago Gambit.

I tried to play this:1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nxe5??! Nxe5 5.d4 gambit against rybka in my fritz gui, so I quess it was using fritz's opening book and I thought it was interesting that the opening book tells it not to save the knight, it always plays 5..Bd6. After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.g3 black has the option to sacrifice his knight similarly and with 4g3 played the sacrifice doesn't look that dubious, I checked my database and I found some 2600+ played this against Smirin 2600+ and they agreed to a draw quite early.
