17.36s Let's see if I can break the record... I'll try this evening... probably unlikely... 3 straight times 18 s.
But I have played blindfold before; that helps. 🙂
Certain squares I can get immediately - pretty much all the squares except e1, e8, g1, a7, g6 and a few others.
Now 14.81 s Good enough for me...

Originally posted by ivan2908I don't know them by any system. I think e8 and immediately somehow "see" the board in my head and link it to a light square. But for many squares I just know the color of the square I think because of blindfold chess - I can think of moves and recreate positions reasonably well not looking at the board.

Although many players don't see the board in their head, what they actually see is some sort of schema of related squares.
14.28 s now. 😵 Ok, I'm going to finish my homework and memorize the few squares I don't quite get and crush this thing.
Odds on a player such as Korch breaks 17 s.

If you know that "well... odd numbers on a c e g are white and even numbers on b d f h are black," how does this help your visualization, becdause you're not visualizing, you're using a furmula. Just a question.
Down to 13.84 s. Confident I can break it but keep hitting 15 s. Not using any tricks although I already have most of the squares practically memorized - again playing blindfold chess helps. A lot of GM's (Ivanchuk, Anand, etc.) play without looking at the board very much. Ivanchuk is particularly noted for this technique.

... I tried just spamming only one colour.
Statisticly I'll eventually HAVE to get one thats 25 lights, right?
Best is 7 in a row so far
For 7 in a row, 1 chance in 128.
To get a time of 12.34 s requires getting each one in .4936 s. Consider that reaction time is approximately .1 s at best (thinking about 100m dash runners here) .
