Does anyone notice the more they play...talk...read....and think chess.

The more isolated they become?

I'm sure some of you have many things going on in there lives...

But have any of you since starting Chess become isolated from daily social activities?

Not at all, the reason I am at RHP is because I don't want chess interfering with my social life. Playing OTB and at chess clubs is more time consuming.

I don't waste my time creating stupid threads. How many do you start per night?

Exercise discipline. Cut back. Otherwise, you may turn into a dork.

This is a general advice concerning everything.
Don't exagerate any of your activities, chess or others. This is a good advice.

I've heard of these "social activities." What do they involve? Are they dangerous?

Yes they are very dangerous! They cost a lot of money and you can catch fatal diseases. Such activities should all generally be avoided.

By isolating yourself and just playing chess you are bound to live longer and have much more money for the good things in life.

I sometimes go out for some drinks with other chess people I know. And, through them, I meet non chesses (although, not many girls for some reason).

So actually chess can help with social life too, it makes it easier to talk to people cause you are used to thinking ahead so are less likely to say something that you have not thought through.

P.S. Where "good things in life" are: chess books, chess subscriptions, chess DVDs, etc

That made me think straight away about the Joseph Blackburne quote "he left his whiskey en prise so I took it en passant."

See - chess does have its uses in social situtations!
