Yeah meant 14...e4 (I'm not going back to edit it again to correct things).

Grischuk is taking ages to find 19.Ke3 he has fallen behind on the clock.
I think he still has a pull....perhaps letting his time go so he can offer a draw.

I was wanting to stop. Though looking at now White still has the tug.

Draw but it was a pretty interesting and instructive endgame esp. for those of us who hate endgames (which is everybody, isn't it?).

endgames are difficult. in this particular game I had no idea if Grischuk was winning or if it was a draw. i hope others feel the same way.

Apparently the 14 e4 I wanted to play here.


Had been played before and Gelf's 14.Re8 was a TN.
(He wasted a lot of time playing this TN if it was preparation.)

My 19.Ke3 here does not rate a mention.


The plan being Black would have to spend a tempo holding the b-pawn
rather than swapping the c-pawn (my candidate passer) for the b-pawn
as what happened in the game.

Highlights a known weakness I have when I have a development lead.
I take risks to keep it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails and Black
equalises with my pieces on iffy squares. (still think it's OK...ish...) 😉

ooooh Boris is in hot water, his rook is virtually trapped on f4 and Grishy is piling on the
pressure its as if hes playing with an extra piece, if Gelfy survives it will miraculous.
