Thanks. Give it a little time to let others figure out. 🙂

As far as I am aware, no chess piece has characteristics. I don't understand what you mean. Any pawn moves the same way.
One key thing you need two know about passed pawns: they become really strong if the opportunity is given.
You have to create that opportunity with the first move.

That took me bloody ages! Very hard to see the logic behind the first move.
Although given we aren't allowed to post the answer, I could just say I'd got it to sound clever 🙂

I would have played Bc5 cold turkey in prospect of pinning the rook but there's a better move.
"1...Bc5?
2.Rxc2 Rc4+!
3. Rcf2! Rc3!
4.Kg2 Bxf2
5.Rxf2 Rxb3
6. Rd2 Ra3
7.Rd8+! Kf7
8.Rd7+ Kg6
9.Rxa7 is with equality."- Joined

then how about Rc4, forcing the creation of a second passed pawn?
i'm thinking 1...Rc4! 2.bxc4 Bc5 3.Rc1 b3 winning?

Yes. Excellent answer.
Rc4!! in view to push for a queen wins, bxc4 loses to the idea that 2 passed pawns win against a lone rook. 🙂
"1...Rc4!! (not Bc5 as explained)
2.bxc4 (2.Rc1 Bc5!)
and now 2...Bc5! pinning the rook wins.
3.Kg2 Bxf2 4.Kxf2 b3 etc..."
Ah yes, this is the brilliancy of the iron logician. See

Thanks for posting the full game. I love Botvinnik's style, so straightforward.
